In Simpler Times ...

I came across this photo online and I needed to share it with all of you. It had me thinking of "Simpler Times". If you look at the clothes she is wearing, the hairstyle she has etc ... How living in these times seemed to be so much harder, but so much easier - All at the same time. They had to do their chores my hand (no washing machines, no dishwashers etc ...) ... But then on the other hand, everyone lived the same. There were no big houses, no shiny cars etc ... No competition. Real Life. Real People. Sometimes I think (as I have mentioned before) I was "Born Too Late" ... I like these "Simpler Times" ... Family Time ... Not as hectic, as today. What does this photograph say to you?

  1. I see simpler times, yes. But I also see someone distracted from her lessons. :D. I guess I think that way because school just started for the grandkids. Wonderful painting. Who was the artist?

  2. Hi Cath ~ Always so great to hear from you ~ Yes, You are so right - The girl in this picture is paying too much attention to her little friend - LOL. As I mentioned, I found this painting on the Internet, and there was no signature for it. Please continue to visit :)

  3. I am in love with this painting! And I know what you mean, I also think I was born "too late". This painting reminds me of Jane Austen's books which I love! I guess people were more focused on each other, the feelings, the look in someone's eyes, the touch, the sound of someone's voice...Today, it's all about Google and Youtube. Oh, if only I could find that Time Machine! :)

A YEAR IN PHOTO COLLAGES ...

Love Story in Burlington, VT ...

It started the morning I decided to visit Muddy Waters (Coffee House) in Burlington, Vermont. I was told by the locals that if I was looking for a quiet place to write and enjoy a good cup of java, this was the place. I entered into a few different level rooms containing booths, cozy benches and chairs. After ordering an Iced Machiatto, I settled into a nice corner bench adjacent to a bookshelf. It was quiet, the perfect seat to get some reading done. My reason for spending a quiet morning here was to work through a few more chapters in The Artist's Way. (Julia Cameron's ~ Guide to Inspire Artists). Upon looking around, I noticed that there was a small, rolled up piece of paper tucked away in the brick wall behind me. At first, I was not sure whether to take it out and read it, or not. Perhaps I have seen too many "Candid - Punked" like shows, and someone was watching my every move. Pushing these paranoid thoughts aside, I reached over, read it and I was elated
