A Week of Exploring ...

This week has been a true week of exploring ~ As you can see from the photo I chose today, I have been dabbling in Photoshop and Paintshop ~ Some people watch TV and really enjoy just that ~ I find myself "exploring" my way through editing programs WHILE watching TV ~ It turns into a game of "What will I create tonight?" ... What do you do while watching TV? Knit? Sew? Sketch?

  1. I like it like it like it! You are teasing me again! There are so many of your photos that I would like to use as an inspiration for my weaving! That's not fair, I only have two hands and one loom! :)
I don't have a TV in my studio, but when I watch TV in my living room, I usually crochet.

  2. I agree, I feel as if I'm wasting time if I'm not fadiddling(my own word, lol) with something while watching TV. I like hand sewing or even paging through a magazine while watching. I don't watch much television, except for Thursday nights when Project Runway is on. I do love that. Sometimes, I'll even bring a book over on the sofa and if I lose interest in the show I can always pick up a book.
I'll be back to visit you...I'm going to subscribe so I know when you update.

    Good 'seeing' you!

  3. Nice to hear from you, Emily ~ I like your word, Fadidling - Great word, Actually ~ Yes, Watching TV is also catching up on magazine time for me, as well ~ I need to sit with my Mom and take a Sewing 101 class, I think I would like to know how to do simple stitches, well at least as a start. Yes, I also have a book on the coffee table to read during commercials. I would love to have you back for a visit ... Great catching up with you!

  6. Hi Kristine! Saw your post @ the Wild.Precious Coffee House and decided to stop by. I've really enjoyed reading some of your blog posts!

I don't watch TV but will sit in the livingroom with family, reading or writing, while they watch TV. TV is just not a habit that I ever developed, lol - although I will watch a movie on DVD once in a while.

Love Story in Burlington, VT ...

It started the morning I decided to visit Muddy Waters (Coffee House) in Burlington, Vermont. I was told by the locals that if I was looking for a quiet place to write and enjoy a good cup of java, this was the place. I entered into a few different level rooms containing booths, cozy benches and chairs. After ordering an Iced Machiatto, I settled into a nice corner bench adjacent to a bookshelf. It was quiet, the perfect seat to get some reading done. My reason for spending a quiet morning here was to work through a few more chapters in The Artist's Way. (Julia Cameron's ~ Guide to Inspire Artists). Upon looking around, I noticed that there was a small, rolled up piece of paper tucked away in the brick wall behind me. At first, I was not sure whether to take it out and read it, or not. Perhaps I have seen too many "Candid - Punked" like shows, and someone was watching my every move. Pushing these paranoid thoughts aside, I reached over, read it and I was elated...

Nashville Travels ...

As I left Logan Airport in Boston, I felt that I was opening a new window in my life. One of freedom. One of self-independence. I found my seat and settled in. The flight flew by and I was in Nashville before I knew it. I gathered my bags and headed to the outside passenger pickup curb. I was greeted with open arms by a friend that could easily be a Sister of mine. Before too long, I began seeing Nashville and Memphis signs on the highway. This was truly happening. A jaunt that was planned so quickly, felt more surreal by the moment. A quick re-cap of the tourist sites we took in were visiting the Grand Ole Opry Backstage Tour, Antique Archeology (American Pickers Gift Shop), Broadway (Street of Lights) and shopping in Downtown Franklin. The regular daily sites were just as fun - Meeting new friends, trying new food (and cream soda - Yum!), listening to live music, attended a going away party, shared in a friends brunch, and being serenaded by incredibly talented fiddlers, g...

Picture Frame Friday ...

So, These are the benefits of having your own blog - Usually, On Fridays it is Poetry Friday but I wanted to change things up a bit. I thought I would write regarding a question I have been asked quite frequently these days. How do I decide the a photo is worth taking? Or how do I know that it will be a good shot? I came across this photograph (above) and thought this would be perfect to help me explain. Many times I have an imaginary frame in my mind of what I want my photo to look like. Off to the left a bit, off to the right, etc - I also tape the LCD display before I go out shooting. I learned this years ago, and it has really improved my work.  (It keeps me shooting - An average shoot on any given day is approximately 100 shots.)This way, I do not waste time checking photos. It forces you to save that work for when you return home. This way, you are not deleting pictures that may please you on the computer, but not in the camera. Hoping these tricks and tips help you,...
