Handmade Greeting Card

Last night I felt like making a few new handmade cards - This is one of them - My living room coffee table looked like a tornado hit - I had all paper scraps, embellishments, etc all over the place - I wanted to go through my craft supplies before I began ... Am I the only one that makes a mess while creating?

  1. Kristine, you are not the only one, you should see my table, or should I say - you couldn't see my table under the pile of all kinds of bits and pieces :) We all make the mess, and I think there is no other way to create. Who cares about it when we are creating and letting our soul sing! The only important thing is to have fun! :)

  2. I forgot to write - I love the card, especially the blue butterfly - you know it's my favorite color :)

  3. Thanks, Sonja - Makes me feel better knowing that I am not the only one that is buried in scraps, paper, etc ... LOL ... Thank you for your kind words regarding my card ... I am beginning to love butterflies as much as hearts these days ... Funny how our tastes change ...

Love Story in Burlington, VT ...

It started the morning I decided to visit Muddy Waters (Coffee House) in Burlington, Vermont. I was told by the locals that if I was looking for a quiet place to write and enjoy a good cup of java, this was the place. I entered into a few different level rooms containing booths, cozy benches and chairs. After ordering an Iced Machiatto, I settled into a nice corner bench adjacent to a bookshelf. It was quiet, the perfect seat to get some reading done. My reason for spending a quiet morning here was to work through a few more chapters in The Artist's Way. (Julia Cameron's ~ Guide to Inspire Artists). Upon looking around, I noticed that there was a small, rolled up piece of paper tucked away in the brick wall behind me. At first, I was not sure whether to take it out and read it, or not. Perhaps I have seen too many "Candid - Punked" like shows, and someone was watching my every move. Pushing these paranoid thoughts aside, I reached over, read it and I was elated...

All about Hope ...

I thought this image was appropriate for how I am feeling today. I seemed to have gotten a second wind with being creative this year. I am excited to tell you about my new treasure in writing. It is a newfound website (that I found in a column in Oprah's Nov 2011 magazine) called 750Words.com. This site follows the steps of Julia Cameron's The Artists Way. It helps you work towards a better writing style. It encourages you to write 750 words a day. This is approximately 3 typewritten pages of words. I am finding it easier to pick a theme (from Patti Digh's LIFE IS A VERB book - Thanks, Patti!) to help create daily themes. Please cheer me on to continue this daily ritual.  Have you started a new routine that you would like to share?
