Winner of Cathy Bueti Prints ...


Last week, I decided to enter Cathy Bueti's Give-away, and to my surprise I was the "Winner". I was the lucky recipient of Grunge Love and I was able to choose another print of my choice - I decided on Coffee Love ... I cannot wait to get them framed to be displayed in my home. I am attaching a photo of them to share with all of you ... Thanks again & again, Cathy ... Love your work & your style!

    Sonja - I love how "we know each other" so well - Makes me very happy - Yes, I was SO thrilled (as you were when you won the ATC'S - Congrats, again - by the way), I do not usually "win" things, either - So this was a real surprise - When I saw the Grunge Heart (this is what Cathy named it) - I entered right away - A Heart to go into my home office - I am going to look into framing both pieces ... A treat, just for me!

Love Story in Burlington, VT ...

It started the morning I decided to visit Muddy Waters (Coffee House) in Burlington, Vermont. I was told by the locals that if I was looking for a quiet place to write and enjoy a good cup of java, this was the place. I entered into a few different level rooms containing booths, cozy benches and chairs. After ordering an Iced Machiatto, I settled into a nice corner bench adjacent to a bookshelf. It was quiet, the perfect seat to get some reading done. My reason for spending a quiet morning here was to work through a few more chapters in The Artist's Way. Nashville Travels ...

As I left Logan Airport in Boston, I felt that I was opening a new window in my life. One of freedom. One of self-independence. I found my seat and settled in. The flight flew by and I was in Nashville before I knew it. I gathered my bags and headed to the outside passenger pickup curb. I was greeted with open arms by a friend that could easily be a Sister of mine. Before too long, I began seeing Nashville and Memphis signs on the highway. This was truly happening. A jaunt that was planned so quickly, felt more surreal by the moment. A quick re-cap of the tourist sites we took in were visiting the Grand Ole Opry Backstage Tour, Antique Archeology (American Pickers Gift Shop), Broadway (Street of Lights) and shopping in Downtown Franklin. Picture Frame Friday ...

So, These are the benefits of having your own blog - Usually, On Fridays it is Poetry Friday but I wanted to change things up a bit. I thought I would write regarding a question I have been asked quite frequently these days. How do I decide the a photo is worth taking? Or how do I know that it will be a good shot? I came across this photograph (above) and thought this would be perfect to help me explain. Many times I have an imaginary frame in my mind of what I want my photo to look like. Off to the left a bit, off to the right, etc - I also tape the LCD display before I go out shooting. I learned this years ago, and it has really improved my work.  (It keeps me shooting - An average shoot on any given day is approximately 100 shots.)This way, I do not waste time checking photos. It forces you to save that work for when you return home. This way, you are not deleting pictures that may please you on the computer, but not in the camera. Hoping these tricks and tips help you,...
