Creative Saturday ...

I have to say this week has been a creative one for me. I have been writing 750 Words A Day (A writing practice on 750words.com) that helps me stay on my path to better writing. I have also started to blog more consistently. I have also been reading The Artist's Way and I am beginning my 12 Week Course to owning a more creative lifestyle. This will help me clear my mind (with Morning Pages) and be able to write more clearly and get to the bones of what I truly want to be writing about. I had worked with this course years ago, but when I revisit it now, it takes on a different meaning, entirely. This proven practice has been used with Writers, Photographers, Musicians, etc ... Where are you headed? What area do you want to become clearer? Better?

  1. That is so great! I am glad you are writing every day and finding time to practice and explore! You made me think about what I do as "creative exercise", and I realized I should do more art journaling. Thank you for reminding me of that! :)

  2. Sonja - Honestly, I always thought of myself as a Photographer - Once I attended the Writing Workshop it was brought to my attention that others see me as more of a "Writer" than a Photographer - So I have decided to work on this craft for awhile, as well as photography. Your crafting is a "creative exercise" - Absolutely - I cannot see your new projects!

Love Story in Burlington, VT ...

It started the morning I decided to visit Muddy Waters (Coffee House) in Burlington, Vermont. I was told by the locals that if I was looking for a quiet place to write and enjoy a good cup of java, this was the place. I entered into a few different level rooms containing booths, cozy benches and chairs. After ordering an Iced Machiatto, I settled into a nice corner bench adjacent to a bookshelf. It was quiet, the perfect seat to get some reading done. My reason for spending a quiet morning here was to work through a few more chapters in The Artist's Way. (Julia Cameron's ~ Guide to Inspire Artists). Upon looking around, I noticed that there was a small, rolled up piece of paper tucked away in the brick wall behind me. At first, I was not sure whether to take it out and read it, or not. Perhaps I have seen too many "Candid - Punked" like shows, and someone was watching my every move. Pushing these paranoid thoughts aside, I reached over, read it and I was elated...

All about Hope ...

I thought this image was appropriate for how I am feeling today. I seemed to have gotten a second wind with being creative this year. I am excited to tell you about my new treasure in writing. It is a newfound website (that I found in a column in Oprah's Nov 2011 magazine) called 750Words.com. This site follows the steps of Julia Cameron's The Artists Way. It helps you work towards a better writing style. It encourages you to write 750 words a day. This is approximately 3 typewritten pages of words. I am finding it easier to pick a theme (from Patti Digh's LIFE IS A VERB book - Thanks, Patti!) to help create daily themes. Please cheer me on to continue this daily ritual.  Have you started a new routine that you would like to share?
