Tuesday's Word - Try ...

I have been thinking of what I need in this New Year ... I need to break through the fear of not asking for what I want ... My word along with "CREATE" for 2012 is "TRY" ...

I have noticed that I am on a natural high when I am collaborating with other artists. Everyone brings something different and unique to each of us. I have been connecting with Writers, Photographers, Painters, Weavers, Embroiderers, Etc. I love how art offers so many platforms!

What gives you a natural high?

  1. Creative New Year to YOU, Kristine. I am energized by the open heartedness I have found in the creative communities. The common thread is joy & passion for life, or the persuit to achieve this. The world and all the ups & downs are constant, but for just a short while, a mystical place is shared by kindred souls...♥

  3. It's always so wonderful to connect with other artists and to share what we know, to expand our knowledge and to have fun. I just love when someone's work inspires me to make something, of course completely different, like when I made a scarf inspired by your photograph. I love how the finished piece somehow has more than just my soul in it. Amazing!

  4. Collaborating with other artists has been something I have been wanting to do, for quite sometime. Facebook and my blog has gotten me in contact with people who I would never have met, in the real world. Yourself, Included. I love the barriers that break down with these types of media. Love all the new creative women in my life! Thank you for "our" scarf - It will always be a special piece of us ...

  5. Being inspired by a blog like yours gives me a natural high...finding kindred spirits whose goal it is to be who they are and reach their star dust goals. Reaching for the stars of my own creativity gives me a natural high too. Thank you for asking the 'Ah! Ha!' question.
    Cheers!

Love Story in Burlington, VT ...

It started the morning I decided to visit Muddy Waters (Coffee House) in Burlington, Vermont. I was told by the locals that if I was looking for a quiet place to write and enjoy a good cup of java, this was the place. I entered into a few different level rooms containing booths, cozy benches and chairs. After ordering an Iced Machiatto, I settled into a nice corner bench adjacent to a bookshelf. It was quiet, the perfect seat to get some reading done. My reason for spending a quiet morning here was to work through a few more chapters in The Artist's Way. (Julia Cameron's ~ Guide to Inspire Artists). Upon looking around, I noticed that there was a small, rolled up piece of paper tucked away in the brick wall behind me. At first, I was not sure whether to take it out and read it, or not. Perhaps I have seen too many "Candid - Punked" like shows, and someone was watching my every move. Pushing these paranoid thoughts aside, I reached over, read it and I was elated...

All about Hope ...

I thought this image was appropriate for how I am feeling today. I seemed to have gotten a second wind with being creative this year. I am excited to tell you about my new treasure in writing. It is a newfound website (that I found in a column in Oprah's Nov 2011 magazine) called 750Words.com. This site follows the steps of Julia Cameron's The Artists Way. It helps you work towards a better writing style. It encourages you to write 750 words a day. This is approximately 3 typewritten pages of words. I am finding it easier to pick a theme (from Patti Digh's LIFE IS A VERB book - Thanks, Patti!) to help create daily themes. Please cheer me on to continue this daily ritual.  Have you started a new routine that you would like to share?
