France - Part Deux







Welcome to Part 2 of Biarritz, France

On this particular day I took a taxi into town - To my surprise I overheard a window washer speaking English - I approached him and asked where the nearest cafe was (in French), and he said, "American? English? How can I help?" ... I was overjoyed! ... He directed me and I was on my way.  I walked a block or two and found a quiet outdoor cafe to write some poetry and to also update my journal entries.

I was able to sit at two different cafe's on this day ... First I enjoyed breakfast and did some writing, then moved on to walking through downtown, up and down side streets, shooting photos ... I could have done this for hours on end ... The second cafe I visited the waitress did not speak any English, needless to say this was an interesting conversation. With a limited vocabulary in French, to my surprise I was able to get by.

Most people around me, speaking only French. I hear construction going on behind the cafe. The large building across the street from me are a cotton candy pink with buttery beige shutters. Motorcyles zooming by. French women dressed in bright clothing walk past. Another businessman in a suit and blue sweater draped on his shoulders, with bright blue suede loafers to match.  

There is no sun as I write, just a cool breeze that feels wonderful on my face. My only question - Does it really get any better than this?

Love Story in Burlington, VT ...

It started the morning I decided to visit Muddy Waters (Coffee House) in Burlington, Vermont. I was told by the locals that if I was looking for a quiet place to write and enjoy a good cup of java, this was the place. I entered into a few different level rooms containing booths, cozy benches and chairs. After ordering an Iced Machiatto, I settled into a nice corner bench adjacent to a bookshelf. It was quiet, the perfect seat to get some reading done. My reason for spending a quiet morning here was to work through a few more chapters in The Artist's Way. (Julia Cameron's ~ Guide to Inspire Artists). Upon looking around, I noticed that there was a small, rolled up piece of paper tucked away in the brick wall behind me. At first, I was not sure whether to take it out and read it, or not. Perhaps I have seen too many "Candid - Punked" like shows, and someone was watching my every move. Pushing these paranoid thoughts aside, I reached over, read it and I was elated...
