Introduction to Letters Across the Miles

Introducing
"Letters Across the Miles"
with
Jennifer Belthoff & Kristine Dubuque Ortega

Jennifer Belthoff and I have decided to collaborate on a Virtual Pen Pal Adventure. We will be bringing back the old fashioned feel of letter writing with a modern day twist. We both feel this is a lost treasure, so we have decided to try it virtually on our blogs. (You can find Jennifer's blog - Giggling in the Rain @ http://www.jenniferbelthoff.com/2013/02/letters-across-miles.html).
It is fabulous !!!

Jennifer's blog has been a favorite of mine for awhile now. She speaks from the heart, which I feel there is no better place to write from. Even though, we have never met in person - I am proud to call her a friend. I enjoy your writing, photography and blog. She is very likeable, Instantly!

Please visit Jennifer's blog to view the first letter in our journey.  We will be writing back and forth to each other each Tuesday. She will write to me on her blog, and I will respond on mine. We will be discussing many different topics from new books, to vacations, to daily finds, to making dreams come true.

Please join in our newfound journey ...
We are excited to share our thoughts with all of you ...

Love Story in Burlington, VT ...

It started the morning I decided to visit Muddy Waters (Coffee House) in Burlington, Vermont. I was told by the locals that if I was looking for a quiet place to write and enjoy a good cup of java, this was the place. I entered into a few different level rooms containing booths, cozy benches and chairs. After ordering an Iced Machiatto, I settled into a nice corner bench adjacent to a bookshelf. It was quiet, the perfect seat to get some reading done. My reason for spending a quiet morning here was to work through a few more chapters in The Artist's Way. (Julia Cameron's ~ Guide to Inspire Artists). Upon looking around, I noticed that there was a small, rolled up piece of paper tucked away in the brick wall behind me. At first, I was not sure whether to take it out and read it, or not. Perhaps I have seen too many "Candid - Punked" like shows, and someone was watching my every move. Pushing these paranoid thoughts aside, I reached over, read it and I was elated...

Picture Frame Friday ...

So, These are the benefits of having your own blog - Usually, On Fridays it is Poetry Friday but I wanted to change things up a bit. I thought I would write regarding a question I have been asked quite frequently these days. How do I decide the a photo is worth taking? Or how do I know that it will be a good shot? I came across this photograph (above) and thought this would be perfect to help me explain. Many times I have an imaginary frame in my mind of what I want my photo to look like. Off to the left a bit, off to the right, etc - I also tape the LCD display before I go out shooting. I learned this years ago, and it has really improved my work.  (It keeps me shooting - An average shoot on any given day is approximately 100 shots.)This way, I do not waste time checking photos. It forces you to save that work for when you return home. This way, you are not deleting pictures that may please you on the computer, but not in the camera. Hoping these tricks and tips help you,...
