April Love ... Day One

Today I joined in on Susannah Conway's April Love 2016 - A Month of Love Letters. I thought I would share Day One's Prompt ...

Dear Love,
You have shown yourself to me in all different ways through my life. I knew you existed with the way you resided in my own family How we reacted to family members sufferings, as if they were our own. In my teens, I thought I knew you with my first love. Later, I realized I was too young to know your true meaning. Later still, I found you being Single meeting new people and then I lost sight of you once again. Over the course of the next few years I would find you to bloom, to hurt and to transform me. Changing me into a stronger more independent woman. Embracing me in my times of need. Cheering for my triumphs. Through it all you showed me comfort. Even now, I find you tapping me on the shoulder – Reminding me to take care of myself. I have always followed my heart, then my head. You have reminded me to take pause and think matters through while also reminding me to keep my heart open. I still call on you to guide me. To set me on the right path to never let my heart harden. To always remain true to myself. I look forward to seeing what lies in the path ahead. #AprilLove2016

Anyone else sharing in on this wonderful month of love?

Love Story in Burlington, VT ...

It started the morning I decided to visit Muddy Waters (Coffee House) in Burlington, Vermont. I was told by the locals that if I was looking for a quiet place to write and enjoy a good cup of java, this was the place. I entered into a few different level rooms containing booths, cozy benches and chairs. After ordering an Iced Machiatto, I settled into a nice corner bench adjacent to a bookshelf. It was quiet, the perfect seat to get some reading done. My reason for spending a quiet morning here was to work through a few more chapters in The Artist's Way. (Julia Cameron's ~ Guide to Inspire Artists). Upon looking around, I noticed that there was a small, rolled up piece of paper tucked away in the brick wall behind me. At first, I was not sure whether to take it out and read it, or not. Perhaps I have seen too many "Candid - Punked" like shows, and someone was watching my every move. Pushing these paranoid thoughts aside, I reached over, read it and I was elated...

Picture Frame Friday ...

So, These are the benefits of having your own blog - Usually, On Fridays it is Poetry Friday but I wanted to change things up a bit. I thought I would write regarding a question I have been asked quite frequently these days. How do I decide the a photo is worth taking? Or how do I know that it will be a good shot? I came across this photograph (above) and thought this would be perfect to help me explain. Many times I have an imaginary frame in my mind of what I want my photo to look like. Off to the left a bit, off to the right, etc - I also tape the LCD display before I go out shooting. I learned this years ago, and it has really improved my work.  (It keeps me shooting - An average shoot on any given day is approximately 100 shots.)This way, I do not waste time checking photos. It forces you to save that work for when you return home. This way, you are not deleting pictures that may please you on the computer, but not in the camera. Hoping these tricks and tips help you,...
