Welcome May!

Original Photography by Kristine

Welcoming The Month of May!

So I am back after a month of writings for April Love (Susannah Conway's April Love). Thank you all for staying with me for these posts, I had been wanting to add a writing practice to my blog for awhile. Hoping you enjoyed it!

Something New!

Each Spring I find myself making a list of places I would like to visit.
This year I gathered a few places right in my hometown of Boston, MA.

My Spring 2016 List:

Swan Boats - Boston Public Gardens
The Boston Public Library
Museum of Fine Arts
Sam Adams Brewery
The Algiers for a Great Cup of Coffee
Bull & Finch Pub (The Cheers Bar)
Brick and Mortar for a Delicious Meal
The Bleacher Bar to Watch a Red Sox Game
Central Bottle for Wine Tasting

What is on your Spring List?

  1. Kristine, isn't it funny how we take for granted the treasures our hometown offers? I live an hour from NYC and yet never visited the Statue of Liberty until I was in my 50s! :) I smiled when looking over your list because I have been to many of the places you have not yet seen! You are so lucky to live in a city steeped in such history!

    1. So nice to hear from you, Grace -- Glad to know that I am not the only one that tends to put off hometown offerings -- Hoping to turn my way of thinking around this year! Xo

Love Story in Burlington, VT ...

It started the morning I decided to visit Muddy Waters (Coffee House) in Burlington, Vermont. I was told by the locals that if I was looking for a quiet place to write and enjoy a good cup of java, this was the place. I entered into a few different level rooms containing booths, cozy benches and chairs. After ordering an Iced Machiatto, I settled into a nice corner bench adjacent to a bookshelf. It was quiet, the perfect seat to get some reading done. My reason for spending a quiet morning here was to work through a few more chapters in The Artist's Way. (Julia Cameron's ~ Guide to Inspire Artists). Upon looking around, I noticed that there was a small, rolled up piece of paper tucked away in the brick wall behind me. At first, I was not sure whether to take it out and read it, or not. Perhaps I have seen too many "Candid - Punked" like shows, and someone was watching my every move. Pushing these paranoid thoughts aside, I reached over, read it and I was elated...

All about Hope ...

I thought this image was appropriate for how I am feeling today. I seemed to have gotten a second wind with being creative this year. I am excited to tell you about my new treasure in writing. It is a newfound website (that I found in a column in Oprah's Nov 2011 magazine) called 750Words.com. This site follows the steps of Julia Cameron's The Artists Way. It helps you work towards a better writing style. It encourages you to write 750 words a day. This is approximately 3 typewritten pages of words. I am finding it easier to pick a theme (from Patti Digh's LIFE IS A VERB book - Thanks, Patti!) to help create daily themes. Please cheer me on to continue this daily ritual.  Have you started a new routine that you would like to share?
