Let's Talk ... Transparency

Photography by Kristine T R A N S P A R E N C Y trans·par·en·cy /ËŒtranˈsperÉ™nsÄ“/ Learn to pronounce noun noun:  transparency ; plural noun:  transparencies 1. the condition of being transparent. "the transparency of ice" synonyms: translucency,  lucidity , pellucidity, limpidness, limpidity, glassiness,   liquidity , clearness,  clarity ;  rare  transpicuousness "the transparency of the dew on a rose" I have been writing my blog for many years now. I have rarely been transparent.  I turned 50 this year. I am married to a great man and have two felines that make our house a home. We live in an 1920 Colonial with a short walk to a relaxing pond and busy center of town.  I have never had a child of my own.  I have worked in an office for most of my working days and a creative whenever I can be. I am a lover of photography, writing, animals and nature. My ...

Milestones & Memories ...

Original Photography by Kristine  50 I reached this milestone birthday this month.  What have I learned in all these years? Who have I met? Who have I loved? Who have I lost? Big questions with so many answers. I hope I have learned at the pace I was intended to. I have met many amazing people over the years. I  have loved my family, friends, pets and all of nature. I had one of the biggest losses that I am still healing from but growing stronger with each passing day. I continue to love photography, music and writing. I plan to keep these interests for many years to come. I have plans to visit places I have never been. I also plan to write more about my personal experiences. Spend more time creating new memories through time well spent, writing and photography. What have you learned over the years?

Learning From The Best ...

Photography by Kristine Jan 2018 ANNIE LEIBOVITZ MASTERCLASS (www.masterclass.com) As I sat sipping a coffee while watching Annie Leibovitz's MasterClass, I decided to take out my camera and shoot the photo above. Just so you know, the blur was intentional. It captured the moment as it felt to me. Present. Real.  I wanted to document this moment. I wanted to remember learning from the best. I have followed Annie's work for many years, but learning from her experiences has been eye opening. This class was down to earth, creative not technical. Sure, she speaks of the technical side of the craft, but mostly what moves her. What inspires her. This is what motivates me. She speaks of the composition outweighing all else.  I will take away many thoughts from this class going forward and use these techniques in my own work.  What inspires you? #annieleibovitzmasterclass #annielebovitz #famousfemalephotographer #photographyismypassion #photography ...

Meet Frida ...

Meet Frida!  She is a Blythe doll. She has a short purple bob hairstyle, four different colored eye choices (you can pull a cord and change the color of her eyes - aka eye chips!), she has a simple skipper style body. Most of her doll clothes I have found have been vintage clothes from doll collectors!  She has been my latest photography experiment. She has been teaching me how to catch the best light, has gotten me outdoors and has given me great joy to capture and dress up for these photo shoots!  Most of these photos have been taken on my day off. She brings me back to the days of "play".  She has reminded me to slow down, and do what I love ... Create!  As a child I was never into dolls, but she is different. Unique. Fun.  What have you done strictly "for fun" lately?

My Word for 2017 ...

Photography found on Pinterest HAPPY NEW YEAR!  My Word For 2017 ... R E L E A S E  I will admit I went back and forth between a few words for 2017. I had the word BALANCE last  year and I wanted to continue this journey. I feel RELEASE will help me hold on to the good and let go of anything that is no longer working for me.  As many of us, this time of the year makes us want to start the year off right. I am thinking of small routines that will place me into my creative space during the free moments throughout the day. I have been carrying a book and a journal around with me for awhile. I would like to try my hand at adding sketching and watercolor to my journals. I would love to expand on my creativity, alongside of my writing, poetry and photography. More of these thoughts in the upcoming weeks ...  What are your plans for New Year?

A New Year's Letter ...

Original Self Portrait by Kristine / Diana App A New Year's Letter ... A New Year has always been a way of starting fresh ... Leaving the previous year behind ... The highest of highs, the lowest of lows, and everything in between ... There were many moments of uncertainty and fear last year for our family and then came the ultimate joys that we were so grateful for! Spending New Years Day with my family confirmed we made it through the storm. Each New Year I try to set a few intentions. I do not like to look at them as resolutions. Ideas that I will look forward to. Perhaps trying something new or as simple as visiting a new destination. These excursions usually bring photography and writing possibilities along with them. I tend to think of enjoyment attached to learning so anything else that unfolds is just a true bonus!  A New Year - 12 Full Months - Being Served Up - For Us To Choose How To Fill Our Days ... How will you spend them? I would love to hear ......

Anthropologie & Bella ...

As many of you know, I love sharing things I come across and fall in love with ... These are two items I never mind finding in my mailbox ... Anthropologie Catalog & Bella Grace Magazine ... Ever since I took Bella Cirovic's Online Course - A Flame in the Frost - (She mentions this catalog to search for images that speak to us to place in our journals) - I ordered this catalog - The artistry and dreamlike photos make my heart sing. Bella Grace is a magazine that I learned about through many of my UK friends. This magazine is like no other. It has amazing photography, thick book like double fold-over covers, with articles and prompts for you to try ... I cannot wait to dive in and dig a bit deeper into myself with a delicious cup of coffee this weekend!
