Let the Sun Shine!

Last evening, I was watching television and looking through the many photos I have taken over the years ... This was one that I felt I wanted to post for today ... Memorial Day Weekend always reminds me of the "Kickoff to Summer" ... Yellow always reminds me of Summer, especially after a lengthy Winter. Let the sun shine in!

  1. Kristine, this photo is amazing! I am sorry I don't know how to say everything I want in English, but I'll just say that I love it! (I would like to say something about zoom and stuff like that, and how great you've captured this flower with the sun and the shades, but my English is not that good). :)

  2. Sonja ~ Please know that your English is just fine ~ I have never had an issue trying to understand what you mean ~ Thank you for always giving me the "jump in my step" that I need ... I like trying new things ... Framing the shot differently ... Filling the frame (a close up shot) etc ... I am just happy you like my work! And I love your work :)

  3. Thank you Kristine! It's just that sometimes I would like to say what I mean in longer sentences, but I guess this much of my knowledge will do...:)

Love Story in Burlington, VT ...

It started the morning I decided to visit Muddy Waters (Coffee House) in Burlington, Vermont. I was told by the locals that if I was looking for a quiet place to write and enjoy a good cup of java, this was the place. I entered into a few different level rooms containing booths, cozy benches and chairs. After ordering an Iced Machiatto, I settled into a nice corner bench adjacent to a bookshelf. It was quiet, the perfect seat to get some reading done. My reason for spending a quiet morning here was to work through a few more chapters in The Artist's Way. (Julia Cameron's ~ Guide to Inspire Artists). Upon looking around, I noticed that there was a small, rolled up piece of paper tucked away in the brick wall behind me. At first, I was not sure whether to take it out and read it, or not. Perhaps I have seen too many "Candid - Punked" like shows, and someone was watching my every move. Pushing these paranoid thoughts aside, I reached over, read it and I was elated...

Picture Frame Friday ...

So, These are the benefits of having your own blog - Usually, On Fridays it is Poetry Friday but I wanted to change things up a bit. I thought I would write regarding a question I have been asked quite frequently these days. How do I decide the a photo is worth taking? Or how do I know that it will be a good shot? I came across this photograph (above) and thought this would be perfect to help me explain. Many times I have an imaginary frame in my mind of what I want my photo to look like. Off to the left a bit, off to the right, etc - I also tape the LCD display before I go out shooting. I learned this years ago, and it has really improved my work.  (It keeps me shooting - An average shoot on any given day is approximately 100 shots.)This way, I do not waste time checking photos. It forces you to save that work for when you return home. This way, you are not deleting pictures that may please you on the computer, but not in the camera. Hoping these tricks and tips help you,...
