I thought I would ask if anyone of you like taking "trinkets" home from places visited - I usually like to bring home small items (keychains, magnets, bookmarks, postcards etc ...) to remember a nice get-away ... Sometimes I will find a doll or a statue to remind me of that special time ... What do you like to remember a vacation?

i always bring home lots of things, and then usually weed thru them the following year before we leave again! i love to pick up leaves, acorns, moss, sticks, etc. when we are in oregon. people up there look at me like i am crazy, but they would do the same if they came from the desert! xo
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful to hear from you, Carlanda - Love hearing what you collect - I remember being on the beach in Bermuda on our last day and putting pink sand in a small mouthwash bottle because I wanted to have this amazing sparkly, pink sand in my own home - I can see why you wanted pieces of nature that were "alive" to take home ... We seem to think alike - So glad we connected!
ReplyDeleteAside from photographs it was always a family tradition we started with our boys that they choose a Christmas tree ornament that would be used every year and that was like a map of our vacation time we could remember at the holidays.
ReplyDeleteGreat hearing from you, Sherry and thanks for your post - Yes - Christmas Ornaments - Wonderful way to remember - What a great tradition you have started - Mapping your travels - I also have many memories with ornaments on my Christmas Tree ... Brings back wonderful milestones (Vacations, Anniversaries etc ...) ... We think alike!
ReplyDeleteHi, Kristine...Of course, loads and loads of photos, that moment snapped from time...Then I like small town newspapers, or a piece of fabric from the local quilt shop, rocks are a great fun until you forget exactly WHERE you got them...lol..
ReplyDeleteBut, I suppose the photos rank 1st...
Hi Margaret ~ Yes ~ Photos are first and foremost with me ~ I guess I take that as a "Given" ~ Love the small town newspaper, and fabric from a local quilt shop ~ Nice Ideas ~ Yes, I have a bag of rocks that I cannot remember where I got them from, but they were so beautiful, I had to keep them ... Thanks for commenting!
ReplyDeleteI used to bring postcards and stones with me from my vacations. But now, it's mostly photos. Although, there is so much that can be done with photos :) So many projects!
ReplyDeleteYes, Sonja - I can relate to picking up postcards and I love the idea of stones - Photos are a given with me - LOL - I try to take many photos, so I can re-live my vacation when I return home!
