Scribbling Saturday ...

Some days we hope to see the sun ~ Some days we yearn for a rainy day ~ Some days are just the way we want them - After a full week of Jodi LeBrun's Share-A-Palooza, it seems I have a million new ideas in my head for writing & photography. I love it when I feel awakened and inspired!  I am continuing to work my way through Julia Cameron's The Artist's Way. I am also committed to writing everyday. After attending my Writing Workshop a few months back, all I can hear are the instructors saying, "If you are a Writer, you should be writing". No Excuses. What have you told yourself, there is no excuse for?

  1. I like what your instructors are saying. And I guess I have been doing something similar - if I am a weaver, I should be weaving! And that's what I've been doing lately! It feels so good!
I hope you'll share some of your writing with us! :)

  2. This is a difficult question. I guess my answer would be about taking more risks with showing my art outside of facebook. Sometimes I'm so cautious because of protection from criticism, which is silly- I know. Also- I don't really want to sell my art- not at this point, anyway. For some reason I get attached to my portraits, where they're like people I need to keep in sight.

  3. Hi Sonja ~ Great hearing from you ~ Yes, You are a Wonderful Weaver, you should be weaving - LOL ~ My instructors told us this, and for some reason I have not been able to stop ... This is when we "know" it is right for us ... When it "almost" comes easy, Right?

  4. Hi Elizabeth - Yes, I need to start showing my writing and photography outside of Facebook and my blog, as well - This upcoming year is hopefully going to be my "breakout" year - and yours!

  5. Hi Kristine! So happy to have met you through Jodi's epic week of creativity. I love this post. Did you create that image? It's fantastic!

I've struggled with excuses for years... but finally feel like I'm breaking past them. It seems like now that I understand how WORTH the risk my dreams are--I'm way more willing to give up excuses and instead live the life I've always wanted.

Thanks for this thoughtful and thought-provoking post!

  6. It was awesome to meet you through Jodi's site!! She was so generous!! I think it was just so awesome.

Okay--so what have I told myself there is no excuse for?? Well two things. I'm there with the writing. I do write daily--although I don't blog daily. I have a hand written journal and there is something about actually putting the pen to paper that I'm still in love with. Secondly--my diet--there is not option or excuse for failure. I've had success with this one--and I'm not going to let myself or my health down.

    Great post Kristine :)

    Cheers, Jenn.

  7. Hi Amanda! Thank you so much for visiting me here! So great connecting with you through Jodi's Creative Week!

Sorry to say, I did not create the image above, I found it online and fell in love with it!

I feel the same way, the older I get - Less time for excuses - There is a full life to live out there and we cannot afford to miss it!

  9. Kristine, having just met you via Facebook (and I'm terrible at remembering the threads), I just have to send a message to everyone who is just starting on 'The Artist's Way'. I did, too, back in 2000, and can honestly say I have never looked back professionally, even though I already worked in publishing, but not on my own account. It hasn't always been easy, but I've established a niche which would not have happened if I hadn't discovered JC. And now I am endeavouring to apply the same principles to my creative mixed-media work. I'm writing all this to encourage others.

Love Story in Burlington, VT ...

It started the morning I decided to visit Muddy Waters (Coffee House) in Burlington, Vermont. I was told by the locals that if I was looking for a quiet place to write and enjoy a good cup of java, this was the place. I entered into a few different level rooms containing booths, cozy benches and chairs. After ordering an Iced Machiatto, I settled into a nice corner bench adjacent to a bookshelf. It was quiet, the perfect seat to get some reading done. My reason for spending a quiet morning here was to work through a few more chapters in The Artist's Way. (Julia Cameron's ~ Guide to Inspire Artists). Upon looking around, I noticed that there was a small, rolled up piece of paper tucked away in the brick wall behind me. At first, I was not sure whether to take it out and read it, or not. Perhaps I have seen too many "Candid - Punked" like shows, and someone was watching my every move. Pushing these paranoid thoughts aside, I reached over, read it and I was elated
