Happy New Year - A Year in Review ...

Happy New Year ~ 2012 ~ I thought I would look back on 2011 in this post ~ A Year in Review ~ It was a rough year for many of my family and friends ~ My wish this year is for all the people that have been hurting return to normal living - Get offered jobs, be able to start saving again, be free of so much worry.

My word for them is BELIEVE. To have faith. To move forward. To stay strong.

What do you wish for in the New Year?

Comments

  1. I like Believe!! That is a great word. I do pray they can find the faith to know there will be a better tomorrow--a better 2012.

My word is Contentment--that each person I know can find some semblance of contentment right where they stand. We can choose to find contentment, happiness, joy in that which we already hold in our hands. I know 2011 was not good for many--but the people who chose to find the blessings they had despite all their hardship were really inspirational to those around them--and it kept everyone's spirits up and alive. And for many 2011 turned out, near the end, to bring these same people unexpected blessings. I wonder if Karma had their back? Let's hope.

What a wonderful post!! Happy New Year!!

Love Story in Burlington, VT ...

It started the morning I decided to visit Muddy Waters (Coffee House) in Burlington, Vermont. I was told by the locals that if I was looking for a quiet place to write and enjoy a good cup of java, this was the place. I entered into a few different level rooms containing booths, cozy benches and chairs. After ordering an Iced Machiatto, I settled into a nice corner bench adjacent to a bookshelf. It was quiet, the perfect seat to get some reading done. My reason for spending a quiet morning here was to work through a few more chapters in The Artist's Way. (Julia Cameron's ~ Guide to Inspire Artists). Upon looking around, I noticed that there was a small, rolled up piece of paper tucked away in the brick wall behind me. At first, I was not sure whether to take it out and read it, or not. Perhaps I have seen too many "Candid - Punked" like shows, and someone was watching my every move. Pushing these paranoid thoughts aside, I reached over, read it and I was elated...

All about Hope ...

I thought this image was appropriate for how I am feeling today. I seemed to have gotten a second wind with being creative this year. I am excited to tell you about my new treasure in writing. It is a newfound website (that I found in a column in Oprah's Nov 2011 magazine) called 750Words.com. This site follows the steps of Julia Cameron's The Artists Way. It helps you work towards a better writing style. It encourages you to write 750 words a day. This is approximately 3 typewritten pages of words. I am finding it easier to pick a theme (from Patti Digh's LIFE IS A VERB book - Thanks, Patti!) to help create daily themes. Please cheer me on to continue this daily ritual.  Have you started a new routine that you would like to share?
