Washi Tape ...

This is my new wonder tool - Washi tape - My tape is somewhat special because mine was flown to me directly from Japan - I am lucky enough to have a dear friend that lives in the Heart of Tokyo - I did not realize this was a "Hidden Jewel" - How many of you have known about this for years? Where have I been? Loving this product!

  1. I've heard of it and know quite a few people who use it but I've never had the pleasure. Love the colours of what you've got!

  2. Thanks so much, Sherry - I turned this photo into a Vintage look - The colors are a bit brighter than what you see here - I just heard so many people talking about it, that I asked my friend in Tokyo and a care package was in my mailbox a few weeks later, with all these great rolls inside :)

  4. Margaret ~ Washi tape is like masking tape with designs on it ~ It is not something you see in craft stores, more specialty shops would carry it ~ I am lucky that I have a girlfriend that lives in Tokyo that knew exactly what I meant when I mentioned it, and sent me quite a few rolls ~ My plan is to make handmade cards and scrapbook pages ~ I will use the tape as borders etc ... I also plan to seal letters with the tape ... Just adds some character to a plain envelope ...

  5. This is gorgeous! I have never used it, don't even know if there is something like that in stores here. But it's definitely beautiful and could be used in so many projects! I like what you plan to make with it :)

Love Story in Burlington, VT ...

It started the morning I decided to visit Muddy Waters (Coffee House) in Burlington, Vermont. I was told by the locals that if I was looking for a quiet place to write and enjoy a good cup of java, this was the place. I entered into a few different level rooms containing booths, cozy benches and chairs. After ordering an Iced Machiatto, I settled into a nice corner bench adjacent to a bookshelf. It was quiet, the perfect seat to get some reading done. My reason for spending a quiet morning here was to work through a few more chapters in The Artist's Way. (Julia Cameron's ~ Guide to Inspire Artists). Upon looking around, I noticed that there was a small, rolled up piece of paper tucked away in the brick wall behind me. At first, I was not sure whether to take it out and read it, or not. Perhaps I have seen too many "Candid - Punked" like shows, and someone was watching my every move. Pushing these paranoid thoughts aside, I reached over, read it and I was elated...

All about Hope ...

I thought this image was appropriate for how I am feeling today. I seemed to have gotten a second wind with being creative this year. I am excited to tell you about my new treasure in writing. It is a newfound website (that I found in a column in Oprah's Nov 2011 magazine) called 750Words.com. This site follows the steps of Julia Cameron's The Artists Way. It helps you work towards a better writing style. It encourages you to write 750 words a day. This is approximately 3 typewritten pages of words. I am finding it easier to pick a theme (from Patti Digh's LIFE IS A VERB book - Thanks, Patti!) to help create daily themes. Please cheer me on to continue this daily ritual.  Have you started a new routine that you would like to share?
