Music Monday ... PINK

It is once again, MUSIC MONDAY. I wanted to mention PINK today. I have to be honest, when she first hit the music circuit, I was not all that crazy about her. I was unsure of her toughness, her boldness etc ... As she has come out with more and more top charting songs, I have grown a real liking for her. She is an artist, she pushes the limits and continues to re-invent herself. Is there an artist that you are fond of now, and when they first appeared you were unsure of what to think of them?

  1. I would say the same as you - it was her. Didn't like her that much at first, but now I do like to hear some of her songs. Still a bit too tough looking I would say, but a good singer. :)

  2. Sonja - That is EXACTLY how I feel - I can never jump over a song from her on the radio - Her recent songs are somewhat addicting - But I love her voice ... We seem to see so many things on the same page ... Sisters from another Mother :)

  3. Just think - As I have mentioned - An American Girl and a Serbian Girl being friends - Years ago this would have never happened - Just Amazing!

  4. She is amazing. I saw her as an opening act for my celebrity crush Justin Timberlake and Pink BLEW me away. She was authentic, powerful, her voice was beautiful and she pushed the limits of her own skills. At that time she had just started dabbling into circus tricks. She did some work with the hanging ribbons at that show but of course now she does full on ribbon and some trapeze work. Like Adele she sings from her heart and her music is powerful and moving.

  5. It's Raining Jelly Beans - So wonderful to hear from you - Yes, PINK is incredibly talented - As I mentioned, she grew on me - She is a bit rougher or tougher than I usually like, but she is strong and she reinvents herself in a way like no other. Adele is my favorite right now, I hope to feature her in an upcoming Music Monday. So glad you will enjoy this upcoming post, as well!

Love Story in Burlington, VT ...

It started the morning I decided to visit Muddy Waters (Coffee House) in Burlington, Vermont. I was told by the locals that if I was looking for a quiet place to write and enjoy a good cup of java, this was the place. I entered into a few different level rooms containing booths, cozy benches and chairs. After ordering an Iced Machiatto, I settled into a nice corner bench adjacent to a bookshelf. It was quiet, the perfect seat to get some reading done. My reason for spending a quiet morning here was to work through a few more chapters in The Artist's Way. (Julia Cameron's ~ Guide to Inspire Artists). Upon looking around, I noticed that there was a small, rolled up piece of paper tucked away in the brick wall behind me. At first, I was not sure whether to take it out and read it, or not. Perhaps I have seen too many "Candid - Punked" like shows, and someone was watching my every move. Pushing these paranoid thoughts aside, I reached over, read it and I was elated

All about Hope ...

I thought this image was appropriate for how I am feeling today. I seemed to have gotten a second wind with being creative this year. I am excited to tell you about my new treasure in writing. It is a newfound website (that I found in a column in Oprah's Nov 2011 magazine) called 750Words.com. This site follows the steps of Julia Cameron's The Artists Way. It helps you work towards a better writing style. It encourages you to write 750 words a day. This is approximately 3 typewritten pages of words. I am finding it easier to pick a theme (from Patti Digh's LIFE IS A VERB book - Thanks, Patti!) to help create daily themes. Please cheer me on to continue this daily ritual.  Have you started a new routine that you would like to share?

One Year Anniversary Post & a Give-Away ...

Today marks my One Year Blog Anniversary ~  It has been a wonderful year of meeting new artists, painters, photographers and crafters. I have made many new friends on this journey ... I have received many compliments on the above photo, so I thought I would have a fun give-away. This is to show my appreciation for all your support of my photography and writing over the past year. I am giving away the above photograph (my original photo, accented in Photoshop) as a 5x7 print.  Please leave me some comments of "love" and I will be picking a winner on Wednesday, November 30th.  This is my first give-away and I am so excited about it ~  Hoping to hear from many of you!
