Burst of Color Saturday ...

This has been a week of creativity for me ... Every evening I have been trying to "Write" ... (Trying to "own" my title of "Writer" from my recent Writing Workshop) ... I would either start and/or finish a poem ... Write a short essay (and then go back later and re-write it) or simply write for the sake of writing. I am grateful for this year being one of creativity. This was a goal for me in 2011, and I have worked hard to make it happen. I am using my writing and photography to show who I truly am. I could play the "Coulda Woulda Shoulda" game, but I just wish I would have started earlier, but it is never to late to hone into a craft that you love. How are you leaving an imprint of who you truly are?

  1. You are so right Kristine, it's not worth thinking about what should have been done...It's important to start doing it now! Just follow your dream and your need to do what you love. This year was very important for me too, I opened my self to new ways of communicating through art, trying new things, challenging my self, and it feels wonderful! Sometimes I think I should have done that before, but then I remember that everything comes at the right time, even when we aren't aware of that.

  2. Thank you, Sonja - Always so wonderful to hear from you - I feel we both "put ourselves out there" this year, and our creative dreams have flourished. I feel that we even took a risk chatting and look at the wonderful friendship that came of it. A friendship that means the world to me. I often wish I would have started earlier, but then remember - Timing is everything - Absolutely, Sonja!

Love Story in Burlington, VT ...

It started the morning I decided to visit Muddy Waters (Coffee House) in Burlington, Vermont. I was told by the locals that if I was looking for a quiet place to write and enjoy a good cup of java, this was the place. I entered into a few different level rooms containing booths, cozy benches and chairs. After ordering an Iced Machiatto, I settled into a nice corner bench adjacent to a bookshelf. It was quiet, the perfect seat to get some reading done. My reason for spending a quiet morning here was to work through a few more chapters in The Artist's Way. (Julia Cameron's ~ Guide to Inspire Artists). Upon looking around, I noticed that there was a small, rolled up piece of paper tucked away in the brick wall behind me. At first, I was not sure whether to take it out and read it, or not. Perhaps I have seen too many "Candid - Punked" like shows, and someone was watching my every move. Pushing these paranoid thoughts aside, I reached over, read it and I was elated...

Nashville Travels ...

As I left Logan Airport in Boston, I felt that I was opening a new window in my life. One of freedom. One of self-independence. I found my seat and settled in. The flight flew by and I was in Nashville before I knew it. I gathered my bags and headed to the outside passenger pickup curb. I was greeted with open arms by a friend that could easily be a Sister of mine. Before too long, I began seeing Nashville and Memphis signs on the highway. This was truly happening. A jaunt that was planned so quickly, felt more surreal by the moment. A quick re-cap of the tourist sites we took in were visiting the Grand Ole Opry Backstage Tour, Antique Archeology (American Pickers Gift Shop), Broadway (Street of Lights) and shopping in Downtown Franklin. The regular daily sites were just as fun - Meeting new friends, trying new food (and cream soda - Yum!), listening to live music, attended a going away party, shared in a friends brunch, and being serenaded by incredibly talented fiddlers, g...
