It's Music Monday ...

I have been a Tina Turner fan for many years. I am not sure if it was when I first heard "Proud Mary", or "Nutbush City Limits", or "Let's Stay Together" I knew I was hooked. Tina has so many songs I love. I do not think I have enough room in a blog post to name them all. The ones that come to mind are "Private Dancer" and "What's Love Got To Do With It". The one thing I do know, is I can never by pass a song from her on the radio - I have to listen to it, all the way through. Love her voice, her strength, her conviction. I have to say my favorite song is "The Best" - So liberating, So uplifting, So Tina!

  1. Dear Kristine,

Music is one of the best things this life has to offer !

There are so many singers I adore, but there is one who stands above all the rest : k.d. lang - I absolutely love her voice .

When I'm painting I like to listen to dance music for energy, or to classical if I already have too much energy and need to calm down- !

    Tina Turner is amazing -
' Proud Mary ' is my favorite of her songs.

Love Story in Burlington, VT ...

It started the morning I decided to visit Muddy Waters (Coffee House) in Burlington, Vermont. I was told by the locals that if I was looking for a quiet place to write and enjoy a good cup of java, this was the place. I entered into a few different level rooms containing booths, cozy benches and chairs. After ordering an Iced Machiatto, I settled into a nice corner bench adjacent to a bookshelf. It was quiet, the perfect seat to get some reading done. My reason for spending a quiet morning here was to work through a few more chapters in The Artist's Way. (Julia Cameron's ~ Guide to Inspire Artists). Upon looking around, I noticed that there was a small, rolled up piece of paper tucked away in the brick wall behind me. At first, I was not sure whether to take it out and read it, or not. Perhaps I have seen too many "Candid - Punked" like shows, and someone was watching my every move. Pushing these paranoid thoughts aside, I reached over, read it and I was elated...

All about Hope ...

I thought this image was appropriate for how I am feeling today. I seemed to have gotten a second wind with being creative this year. I am excited to tell you about my new treasure in writing. It is a newfound website (that I found in a column in Oprah's Nov 2011 magazine) called 750Words.com. This site follows the steps of Julia Cameron's The Artists Way. It helps you work towards a better writing style. It encourages you to write 750 words a day. This is approximately 3 typewritten pages of words. I am finding it easier to pick a theme (from Patti Digh's LIFE IS A VERB book - Thanks, Patti!) to help create daily themes. Please cheer me on to continue this daily ritual.  Have you started a new routine that you would like to share?
